Garlic Parmesan Knots

Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 Tbsp grated Parmesan
3/4 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp dried parsley flakes
1/4 tsp salt

Directions:

1. Combine all ingredients

2. Make favorite roll recipe (we use the white roll recipe). Roll out and tie in knots. Brush with mixture above. Cook and then brush a little extra on top while warm.

Butternut Squash Pizza

Ingredients:
1 small butternut squash (1 1/2 to 2 pounds)
4 strips thick-cut bacon
4 big leaves kale (roughly 1/4 bunch or 2 1/2 ounces)
8 ounces smoked mozzarella
1 pound pizza dough, store bought or homemade
1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil 
Salt

Directions:

Roast butternut squash in the oven or air fryer. Cook bacon until crispy. Roll out pizza dough and brush with olive oil. Add squash, bacon, chopped kale, and mozzarella. Lightly spritz with oil. Cook at 500 degrees for 7-10 minutes or until the kale is crispy and the crust is done.

 

Bree's Pizza Dough

Ingredients:
2 1/2- 3 cups of all-purpose white flour
1 1/4 tsp yeast
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup warm water
2 Tbsp olive oil

Directions:

Combine 1 1/4 cups flour, yeast, and salt. Add warm water and oil. Mix on low for 30 seconds and then high for 3 minutes. Turn dough onto floured surface and knead in enough of the remaining flour to make a moderately stiff dough. Cover and let rest 10 minutes. Makes one pizza. Cook at 400 or 425 degrees for 10-12 minutes

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp sugar
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, about 4 oz.
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup butter, melted

For the Topping:

2 Tbsp melted butter
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp dry parsley

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
2. Mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, garlic powder and cayenne pepper. Stir in the cheddar cheese and set aside.
3. In a separate bowl, mix the buttermilk and melted butter together.
4. Add the buttermilk to the large bowl with the flour and mix until a dough has formed and the ingredients are no longer dry. Do not overmix.
5. Drop on pan
6. Bake for about 12 minutes, until they are golden brown.
7. When done brush the tops of the biscuits with topping

Garlic Naan

Ingredients:
2 cups flour 
2 tsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 tsp yeast
1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/3 cup warm milk 
1/2 cup Greek yogurt 
1 1/2 Tbsp olive oil for brushing

Garlic Butter Topping

2 Tbsp butter, salted
2 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
2 tsp  parsley or cilantro

Directions: 

1. Add the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, yeast, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Whisk the ingredients together.

2. Slowly add the milk and yogurt to the dry ingredients, mix together with a spatula until just incorporated. 

3. Knead the dough for about 3 minutes 

4. Let the dough sit for 30 minutes on the counter in a warm area. The dough should rise and double in size.

5. Divide the dough into 6 equal balls and roll each into a circle.

6. Over medium-high heat, heat a cast-iron skillet. Brush both sides of the naan with a bit of the oil

7. Add a tsp each per naan of coconut oil into the hot skillet, and add the naan. Fry up for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, until you see bubbles starting to form. They will puff up a little bit, but the indicator is the slightly darkened spots.

8. Turn the naan over and cook for another 30 seconds to 1 minute on the other side, looking again for the slightly darkened spots.

9. Remove from heat, and immediately brush with garlic butter mix. Serve and enjoy!

Biscuits

Ingredients
2 cups       Flour
1 Tbsp      Baking powder
1 tsp          Salt
1/4 cup      Butter
3/4 cup      Milk

Directions:
1. Combine flour, salt and baking powder.
2. Add butter and mix with a fork until dough resembles coarse crumbs.
3. Add milk and knead.
4. Roll out and cut thick.
5. Dip in melted butter and place on greased cookie sheet.
6. Bake at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

Drop Biscuits

Ingredients
3 cups      Flour
1 tsp         Baking powder
1 tsp         Salt
1/4 cup     Sugar
1 stick      Butter
2 1/4 tsp   Yeast
1/2 cup     Water
1/2 cup     Buttermilk

Directions
1. Combine water and yeast, let yeast grow.
2. Add buttermilk to yeast.
3. Combine dry ingredients, use a fork to mix in butter making the dough crumbly.
4. Add wet ingredients and mix just to combine.
5. Drop on cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.

White Rolls/ Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients:
3 cups Warm water
1 cup Sugar (honey doesn't work)
3 tbsp Yeast
2 1/2 tbsp Oil
1 tbsp Salt
6-8 cups Flour (wheat or white, may also had flax seed mill)

Directions:
Combine water, sugar and yeast, allow to stand 5 minutes. Add remaining ingredients. Let raise until double in size. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Shape into rolls or cinnamon rolls. The recipe works well with half wheat and half white flour. For cinnamon rolls use brown sugar and cinnamon for best results, top with cream cheese frosting. For dinner rolls make small balls of dough and roll in butter. Place three balls in each muffin tin and cook. Does not work as bread loafs.

Mom's Wheat Bread

Ingredients:
2 Tbsp. yeast
1 1/2 cups water
2/3 cup honey or sugar
1/3 cup cooking oil or shortening
1 tbsp salt
2 cups milk (or 2/3 cup powdered milk + 2 cups water)
2 eggs
5 cups whole wheat flour (may use all whole wheat)
5 cups white flour

Directions:
Mix yeast and honey in water. Let yeast activate for 5 minutes. Then add cooking oil, milk, eggs, salt. Let dough rise for approximately 20 minutes. Add the flour last with the mixer running until dough pulls clearly away from sides of bowl (about 10 cups). Dough may still be sticky, knead for 10-15 minutes. Form loaves. Put into individual greased pans about 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches. Let raise for 45 minutes-1hour or until double in size. Bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes then 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Butter top of baked bread if desired. Makes 3 large loaves.


Indian Fry Bread

Ingredients:
4 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
5 tsp. baking powder
4 Tbsp. shortening
1 1/2 cups water

Directions:
Combine all ingredients and knead until dough is soft and elastic. Separate into small balls and roll out thin. Fry in oil. Good with meat and cheese for an entree or cinnamon and sugar for a dessert.

French Peasant Bread

Ingredients:
2 1/4 tsp. yeast
2 cups water
1 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
4 cups flour

Directions:
Combine water, sugar and yeast, allow to stand 5 minutes add remaining ingredients. May need to add additional flour to form nice ball. Cover and let rise 1 hour. Place on cookie sheet with cornmeal and let rise 1 hour. Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes and then 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Brush tops with melted butter. If desired knead in favorite spices. We use rosemary.

45 Minute French Bread

Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups warm water
2 Tbsp. yeast
2 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
5 1/2 cups flour

Directions:
Combine water, sugar and yeast, allow to stand 5 minutes. Add rest of ingredients. Dough will be sticky. Let raise 15 minutes. Make 2 long loaves and place on cookie sheet. Brush with egg whites or oil. Let raise 15 minutes then bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes.

Whitehead Corn Bread

Ingredients:
2 cups cornmeal
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 cup melted margarine
1/2 cup sugar
4 eggs
3 cups milk

Directions:
Mix dry ingredients. Add margarine, eggs, and milk. Stir well. Bake at 350 degrees in a 9x13 pan until toothpick comes out clean. Cooks quicker in glass pan.

Batter Bread

Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup milk

Directions:
Combine butter, sugar and eggs. Mix. In separate bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt. Alternate between flour mixture and milk until all is blended in. Place batter in bread pan. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 45 minutes or until done. Yields one loaf, 12 slices per loaf.
