2 bunches red leaf lettuce, chopped
1 head ice berg lettuce, chopped
1/2 cup sliced almonds, toasted
2 small cans mandarin oranges, drained
6 green onions, chopped
Dressing:
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp salt
1/3 cup vinegar
1/2 tsp onion powder
1 cup olive oil or salad oil
1 1/2 tbsp poppy seeds
Direction:
To make dressing: Combine all ingredients down to onion powder and blend well with mixer. Keep mixing and slowly add oil. Add poppy seeds last. Chill well. Toss with salad just before serving. Makes about 16-20 servings.
Serving size is 1- 1 1/2 cups
For our family we often make 1/3 of the dressing and salad and eat it more as a main dish. Does not store well after mixed with dressing.From: Sandra Hale
